Join Samoan/Pacific Islander Sports and Cultural Empowerment

Volunteer Opportunities

 We grow health, leadership, and culture through cricket. Volunteers are the heart of that mission—serving with fa‘aaloalo, tautua, and fa‘atasi alongside youth, women, men, and families.

Ways to Serve (All Skill Levels Welcomed)

 

  • Coach / Assistant Coach
    Support youth, women’s, and co-ed teams with warm-ups, skills, and positive sideline conduct.
    Time: 2–4 hrs/week, by season • Training provided
  • Umpire / Scorekeeper
    Keep the game fair and educational; help with basic scoring and rules.
    Time: 3–6 hrs/month • Training & certification support provided
  • Youth Mentor (Aiga Model)
    Encourage confidence, teamwork, and belonging through check-ins and culture moments.
    Time: 2 hrs/week • Background check required
  • Cultural Lead / Culture Bearer
    Share greetings, songs, stories, and Samoan/PI protocol on match days and workshops.
    Time: Flexible • Stipends possible when funded
  • Events & Field Crew
    Set-up/tear-down, hydration stations, check-in table, park clean-ups.
    Time: Per event/clinic • Great for first-time volunteers
  • Comms / Photography / Social Media
    Capture stories, post updates, and help with newsletters.
    Time: 2–5 hrs/month • Credit line on published photos
  • Fundraising & Sponsorship Team
    Help with local business outreach, grant packets, donor relations.
    Time: 3–5 hrs/month • Templates & training provided
  • Admin & Data Support
    Roster entry, surveys, impact tracking (with training).
    Time: 2–4 hrs/month • Remote friendly

Training, Safety, and Standards

 

  • Orientation & Youth-Safety Training: Every volunteer completes an orientation, code of conduct, and youth-protection basics.
  • Background Checks: Required for any role working directly with minors.
  • Concussion & First Aid Basics: Coaches and event crew receive safety briefings; certified staff on site for clinics/events.
  • Inclusive & Family-Friendly Spaces: We welcome all ages, genders, and abilities; we model fa‘aaloalo in language and behavior.
  • Insurance & Waivers: Covered by our general liability policy (incl. athletic participant coverage). All volunteers sign waivers and media consent as applicable.

What You'll Gain


  • Skill-building: Coaching, leadership, officiating, event ops, communications.
  • Certification Support: Umpire/captain training; letters for service hours or references.
  • Community & Culture: Serve with tautua and learn Samoan/PI traditions on the field.
  • Recognition: Annual volunteer celebration, shout-outs, and certificates.

How to Join (3 Simple Steps)

 

  1. Apply: Complete the short form (name, interests, availability).
  2. Onboard: Attend a 45-minute orientation (virtual or in person).
  3. Serve: Choose a role/shift; we’ll pair you with a team lead or mentor.
